What is GRE?
Many graduate programs in the US, Canada, and a few other nations require applicants to take the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE), a standardized test. Educational Testing Service is the owner and administrator of the GRE (ETS). The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching created the exam in 1936. The GRE is designed to assess skills that have been developed over a long learning process, including analytical writing, critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and verbal reasoning. The GRE’s content is divided into sections on vocabulary, mathematics, geometry, arithmetic, argumentation and reasoning, and some types of data analysis or interpretation. The GRE General Test is available as a computer-based exam that is given at Prometric-owned or approved testing facilities and institutions. The weighting given to GRE results in graduate school admissions varies greatly throughout schools and departments within institutions. A GRE score might be used as a key selection criterion or as merely an admissions formality.

Applicants must register by creating a test-taker profile on the GRE’s official website. The candidate just needs to choose a preferred test facility and date after creating a profile in order to continue with registration. Applicants may also sign up for the GRE at Home version, which allows them to take the test from home as long as they meet the system requirements.
One of the most frequently requested topics is when is the best time to apply to take the GRE. Applicants need to be aware of two things: first, the deadline for university applications, and second, their GRE test preparation schedule. Applicants should first ensure they are well-prepared for the exam before applying, and then they should apply as soon as possible to allow ample time to complete the application. Two months before the first application form due is the ideal time to apply for your GRE exam.
The GRE is widely used by graduate schools to assess a student’s suitability for admission to their program. In many cases, a student’s application to graduate school, business school, or even law school depends heavily on their performance on the GRE.
